Children in high school are working on refining and extending the skills they have learned throughout their school careers. Challenging your child to refine thinking through more lengthy discussions, complex reading, and multiple drafts when writing will help them practice all the skills they have learned to this point.

Provide feedback
After your child has responded to an activity, read or listen to their ideas to help them further refine their thinking. You do not have to be an expert at what they are learning. Simply listening to them speak and asking questions will give your child a chance to further clarify their thinking.

For each grade range, a variety of books at various reading levels are suggested. Please know that reading levels vary and this is normal. If you don’t know the reading level of your child, we suggest you start at a lower level and work upwards. When your child shows that they can read at a level without mistakes, you can move to the next level.
