Ask questions
As your child responds to an activity, ask questions to prompt a more detailed and critical answer. If, for example, your child is asked to explain whether or not they liked a text, prompt them with questions to help them support their answers with evidence from the text.

Write regularly

Observe your child
Observe your child as they play. What are they good at? What do they struggle with? Look for activities that build on what your child can already do, and challenge them to take risks and learn new skills.

For each grade range, a variety of books at various reading levels are suggested. Please know that reading levels vary and this is normal. If you don’t know the reading level of your child, we suggest you start at a lower level and work upwards. When your child shows that they can read at a level without mistakes, you can move to the next level.
